Day 2 of “+65 Indie Weekend” @ Esplanade (18/02/2012)
Covered the “+65 Indie Weekend” gig recently on behalf of the Original Music Society (OMS). It’s been a while since I’ve done live gig photography and I have to say, it’s good to be back.
I photographed the sets of 2 bands, namely Astreal and Obedient Wives Club.
As a band, Astreal has a long history having been around since the mid-90s with local rock veterans Muhammad and Ginette as long time members.
Drummer Joseph and keyboardist Jason might be more recent additions to the band, but Astreal’s great set that night showed that the band as a whole has settled into their new lineup.
Next up was the Obedient Wives Club (OWC). Formed only late last year, the fledgling band is no slouch when it comes to pushing their music, having performed several gigs before their maiden gig at the Esplanade and already having a self-titled EP released.
OWC’s sound is “breezy, lo-fi, extremely catchy, twee pop” chirpiness and so easy to get into! I enjoyed it tremendously and look forward to more performances in the future.
